Austin Leslie Tabbed SIAA Tournament MVP

February 26, 2024

Junior wing Austin Leslie was named SIAA State Tournament MVP after he scored 17 points on 6-7 shooting from the field, including 5-6 from 3-point range.

Leslie came off the bench and immediately contributed to the Lions 58-47 win in the state title game by knocking down 3 3-pointers in the 1st quarter.

Leslie didn’t score again until the 3rd quarter as The Rock also struggled to make shots after the 1st quarter.

His next basket came off of a pull-up jumper in the 3rd quarter.

As part of a historic run by the Lions — a 25-3 run that spanned the last 9:42 seconds of the game — Leslie made a 3 from the top of the key with 2:08 remaining to put the Lions ahead by 4.

One minute later, he nailed the coffin shut as he knocked down his 5th and final 3-pointer to put the Lions up 10.

Past SIAA Tournament MVPs from The Rock include Joel Embiid (2013), Trey McCray (2018), BJ Greenlee (2019), and Sammie Yeanay (2022).
